Abraham called the place Jehovah Jireh [the Lord will see (to it), the Lord provides] – as it is said to this day, “On the mountain the Lord will provide.” Genesis 22:14
Many times throughout my life I have worried about where I am going, where I will live, and what I will do. I usually do not plan well and procrastinate until it’s too late.
The first major realization of this happened when I graduated high school: I didn’t plan for college, didn’t think about where to live, work, nothing. But God provided Lincoln, a place to live with other Christian men, acceptance into a college program, and a part time job. A better start than I could have imagined.
After a 3 month church program in Colorado, I came back and that part time job was no longer an option. Jobless, I dropped out of college, and again I had no plan. But after deciding to pursue a more direct career path, God provided me with a job that led me back to college and towards becoming a Journeyman in a trade.
During this entire time, God provided me with ways to make the funds and places to live. Even though there was a speed bump during my college program that almost extended my time to graduate, God provided a way through.
Twelve years ago, I did not know that the decision to change my career path would lead to a successful way of living, but God knew. He provided all that was needed. Today, if ever I feel worried or doubt about things, I remember all that God has provided thus far, and I have faith that He will continue to do so.
